Three new assistant professors join the House of Innovation

Three new tenure-track assistant professors are joining the House of Innovation at the Stockholm School of Economics during fall 2026, bringing research expertise in entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence, innovation, and mobility.

The tenure track is a three-plus-three-year career path for assistant professors, with a midterm evaluation after the first three years.

After a maximum of six years, successful candidates can be promoted to tenured Associate Professor based on their performance in research, teaching, and overall contributions to the academic community.

Meet our new Assistant Professors

Mohamed Genedy (left) started his position as Assistant Professor in entrepreneurship in July. His research examines emerging enterprises, particularly startups and scaleups, alongside questions in organizational psychology, including employee well-being and health.

Another stream of his research examines family businesses and how families shape entrepreneurial activity and organizational dynamics within family firms. In his doctoral research, Mohamed examined assumptions about the positive effects of entrepreneurship, focusing on its potential negative aspects. His work has appeared in the Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and Human Resource Management.

Rui (Shari) Sun (center) joins the House of Innovation as Assistant Professor in September 2026 after completing her PhD in Management Information Systems at NYU Stern School of Business. With a background in computer science, her research focuses on AI governance, risk, and innovation.

She studies how organizations respond to generative AI, including how the technology reshapes governance responsibilities and how organizations understand and manage AI-related risks. Her research also explores how these developments can create opportunities for innovation and adaptation. Drawing on qualitative fieldwork and her technical background, she connects questions about how AI systems work with how organizations govern and use them.

Qiong Wu (right) started her position as Assistant Professor in entrepreneurship in August 2026. Her research examines how different forms of mobility – across social class, career paths, and geographic borders – shape entrepreneurial behavior and outcomes. Her work covers social mobility and entry into entrepreneurship, career transitions between entrepreneurship and paid employment, and immigrant entrepreneurship.

Qiong received her PhD from IE Business School. Before entering academia, she worked in the public sector and co-founded an education startup. Her research draws on multiple methods, including longitudinal data, field experiments, and surveys, to study entrepreneurship from different perspectives.

New perspectives on innovation and entrepreneurship

Together, the three researchers bring perspectives spanning entrepreneurship, organizations, AI, and mobility to the House of Innovation. Their appointments broaden the research represented at the House and create new opportunities to explore how technological and societal change shapes organizations and entrepreneurial activity.

We are delighted to welcome Mohamed, Rui, and Qiong to the House of Innovation and look forward to following their research and contributions in the years ahead.
