Diversity, equity and inclusion
SSE works actively to promote diversity, equal opportunities, and an inclusive environment for students, faculty, and staff. The aim is to ensure that everyone feels welcome and able to study or work at SSE regardless of background or identity.
Our approach
SSE strives to create an environment where people are treated with respect and where differences in background and perspective are recognized as a strength. This includes considerations related to gender, ethnicity and origin, gender identity or expression, social background, disability, sexual orientation, age, and religion or other beliefs.
The School works systematically with these issues in accordance with the Discrimination Act, Swedish working environment regulations, and internal policies and action plans.
Responsibility and governance
The President has overall responsibility for SSE’s work on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Department heads and managers are responsible for integrating these perspectives into their areas of operation.
SSE maintains a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, and bullying, and works actively to prevent such behavior.
Support for students
Students with a documented, long-term disability can apply for pedagogical support to ensure equal conditions in their studies. Support may include adjustments in examinations or access to adapted materials.
More information is available on the Student Health and Academic Support page. You can also contact the coordinator for students with disabilities for guidance.
Norm-critical perspective
SSE’s work with diversity, equity, and inclusion is informed by a norm-critical perspective. This approach focuses on identifying and examining norms and power structures that shape the environment.
This includes:
- Identifying and making norms and power structures visible
- Understanding their consequences
- Examining who is affected and how
- Reflecting on how individuals and organizations contribute to maintaining or changing them
