Sustainability at SSE
Sustainability is integrated across the Stockholm School of Economics’ core activities—research, education, campus, and outreach. This approach ensures that sustainability is embedded in both academic work and daily operations.
SSE’s sustainability work is developed collaboratively, involving faculty, staff, and students across the School. The strategy is guided by the Executive Sustainability Group, chaired by the President, coordinated by the Sustainable SSE Group chaired by the CFO, and overseen by the SSE Board.
The work is structured around four interconnected pillars:
Research (R)
SSE generates and disseminates sustainability-related research across its departments and institutes. This includes interdisciplinary work and collaborations with external partners.
Education (E)
Sustainability is integrated into courses and programs through frameworks, materials, and teaching approaches that equip students to become responsible leaders.
Campus and operations (C)
SSE incorporates responsible business practices into its own operations, working together with students, faculty, and external stakeholders.
Outreach (O)
Through public events, partnerships, and other initiatives, SSE shares knowledge and insights with practitioners, policymakers, and society.
These activities are aligned with the ambitions of the UN Agenda 2030 and reflect SSE’s commitment to contributing to sustainable economic and societal development.
