How is artificial intelligence reshaping leadership, organizations, decision-making, and society? This series explores how AI is transforming the way businesses operate, professionals work, and societies compete. In different sessions, we bring together researchers, entrepreneurs, and industry experts policymakers to explore the opportunities and the dilemmas created by artificial intelligence.

Artificial intelligence is no longer a niche technology topic. At a rapid pace, it is shaping how organizations make decisions, how professionals work, how industries compete, and how individuals interact with information and one another.

At the same time, the speed of development creates uncertainty around what skills, forms of expertise, and leadership capabilities will become most valuable in the future.

The purpose of the “AI unpacked” series is to help SSE students engage critically and constructively with these developments. Rather than treating AI purely as a technical topic, the series explores how it is reshaping organizations, professional roles, business models, decision-making, and human interaction across society.

In this series, students encounter perspectives from areas such as generative AI, organizational transformation, AI strategy, regulation, fairness, sustainability, and human judgement. Some sessions focus on practical applications and tools, while others explore broader ethical, societal, and organizational implications.

Learning outcomes

Through the series, students are encouraged to:

develop a broader understanding of how AI is transforming organizations, industries, and society,
critically evaluate both the opportunities and limitations of AI technologies,
reflect on how AI affects expertise, leadership, decision-making, and professional roles,
explore practical ways of interacting with and applying AI tools,
and strengthen their ability to navigate an increasingly AI-driven world in an informed, reflective, and responsible way.

The series is intentionally interdisciplinary and beginner-friendly. It is designed to complement SSE’s existing programs by creating a space for reflection, discussion, experimentation, and dialogue between students, researchers, entrepreneurs, and practitioners.
