Literary Agenda

For eight years, the Literary Agenda has given SSE students the opportunity to take part in book circles and author talks led by faculty, staff, and PhD students. Participants read five selected books each year. The aim is to promote self-reflection, empathy, and cultural literacy among students.

How it works

Each year, five books are selected by an advisory board of authors, publishers, and the President of the Stockholm School of Economics. Students who sign up are divided into groups of ten and assigned a circle leader from the faculty or staff. The groups then decide when and where to meet.

Each participant receives all the books free of charge (available for pickup at the SSE pop-up library) and is offered breakfast or fika during the book circle discussions.

Students who read and discuss at least four of the five books and submit a reflection paper will have the Literary Agenda listed in their degree certificate under Formal Extracurricular Activities.

The Literary Agenda is open to the SSE community only. More than 2,000 students, PhD students, faculty, and staff have participated so far.

The initiative is funded by the Hamrin Foundation.
