Barbara Kruger: Untitled (Mirror) 2024

Untitled (Mirror) (2024) by Barbara Kruger is part of the SSE Permanent Collection and is displayed on the entrance floor at Sveavägen 65, near the stone chair. The work was released in connection with the exhibition Barbara Kruger: Thinking of You. I Mean Me. I Mean You. at Serpentine in London in February and March 2024. In Untitled (Mirror), the sentence rendered in red sans serif typography plays on the exhibition title and offers another variation of its phrasing.

The American artist Barbara Kruger was born in 1945 in Newark, New Jersey. She is known for combining text and imagery, often drawing on the visual language of advertising, graphic design, and magazines. Her work explores themes of power, gender, class, and consumer culture.

Kruger frequently uses direct address—a communication style associated with advertising—to engage viewers and comment on contemporary forms of consumption and media culture.

Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide, as well as installed on buildings, billboards, buses, skate parks, and other public surfaces. She has also created designs for everyday objects such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags, and mugs.
