Oliver Sundqvist: KNOCK-OUT

Oliver Sundqvist (born 1991 in Stockholm, Sweden) lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design, where he completed an MA in Furniture Design between 2014 and 2020.

The artwork was originally shown as part of Sundqvist’s exhibition Symphony Hour at Public Service Gallery in Stockholm in 2023. It was donated to the Stockholm School of Economics by P.O. Söderberg.

As described by Public Service Gallery:

“Sundqvist seeks to articulate the interrelations between fiction and reality, between exterior and interior, between concept and form. Consequently, there is an embodied tension between the pieces as they—like a symphony orchestra—stand shoulder to shoulder.”

Through his work, Sundqvist explores relationships between objects, narratives, and spatial experience, often blurring the boundaries between functional design, sculpture, and storytelling.
