Olle Norås

Något starkt ljus väcker mig om nätterna (2017). Gouache on paper, wood, and gold leaf

Olle Norås (born 1982) works with painting and sculpture using materials and techniques such as gouache, watercolor, wood, aluminum, and steel.

Through excursions into forests and woodlands, Norås draws inspiration from nature for new works and artistic processes. His works on paper combine abstraction with intricate detail. Using a fine brush, he creates landscapes and environments that appear suspended between reality and imagination.

Norås often allows watercolor pigments to spread and bleed across the paper surface, creating fluid and organic forms. His work is informed both by Nordic mythology and folklore surrounding forests and spirits, and by contemporary environmental concerns such as deforestation and natural disasters affecting woodland environments today
