Anders Krisár: Untitled, 2012
Anders Krisár, born in 1973, is a Swedish artist based in Stockholm. His first encounters with the art world came through street art and graffiti. He later attended design schools and worked as an art director before leaving the advertising industry in his late twenties to focus on his artistic practice. Untitled by Anders Krisár is installed in the corridor outside the auditorium in the SSE main building.
Krisár grew up with divorced parents who struggled with mental illness and alcoholism. His artistic practice explores themes related to the human condition, often through representations of the body, childhood memories, and family relationships. His close relationship with his mother has been a recurring subject in his work.
“So many of my works take my mother as a subject, and she never objected, and never asked me questions about any of them,” Krisár says in the book Anders Krisár Sculpture by Cecilia Dupire.
Krisár works with sculpture and photography using materials such as polyester, bronze, marble, and gold-plated lead. His sculptures can be understood as psychological interpretations of the human form, often balancing vulnerability and discomfort with beauty.
