Handels for Future!
Lars Arrhenius´ Handels for Future! (2019) is a commissioned video artwork that is displayed on the small screen (Lill-skärmen) in the north corridor on the ground floor of Sveavägen 65 and on House of Innovation.
Tradition meets optimism for the future in Lars Arrhenius’ playful vision of the school as a friendly and transparent doll’s house. Handels for Future! presents our school to students and faculty alike, highlighting scientific inquiry while maintaining a deeply human, empathetic, and joyful spirit. Our world faces serious global challenges that must be addressed by the future decision-makers we aim to educate. Lars’ work celebrates the joy, intelligence, and creativity of every new student arriving at Sveavägen 65.
Lars Arrhenius’ video artwork is both a playful and serious portrait of the Stockholm School of Economics — at once an interpretation and an idealized image. It reflects the school’s relationship with its surroundings and the sustainability issues that engaged Lars so deeply throughout his life. Lars, who passed away shortly before the artwork’s inauguration, was a close friend of SSE and the Art Initiative.
Handels for Future! is part of the SSE permanent collection and was made possible by a donation from alumni Lars Bane and Staffan Olsson.
