Fredrik Wretman

Fredrik Wretman is a Swedish artist and sculptor born in Stockholm in 1958. He received the Maria Bonnier Dahlin Scholarship in 1987 and has served as a professor at both Konstfack and the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm.

Wretman is one of Sweden’s most established contemporary artists. He has completed numerous public commissions and is represented in collections including Moderna Museet in Stockholm, the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Oslo, Göteborgs Konstmuseum, Malmö Museum, and the Public Art Agency Sweden.

Fredrik Wretman began his artistic career as a painter and studied at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm between 1980 and 1985. During this period, he became increasingly interested in installation-based work and expanded his practice beyond painting.

Throughout his career, Wretman has worked across a wide range of media, including installation, performance, sculpture, printmaking, and photography. Today, he is primarily known for his sculptural practice.
