Center for Asian Studies
With a long-standing tradition of active engagement in research, education, and policy development in East and Southeast Asia, CAS provides access to expertise across its country-specific knowledge nodes.
The increasingly complex global political economy makes understanding East and Southeast Asia increasingly important. In the coming decades, wider Asia will be the world’s leading economic geography. Relationships within the region and with other parts of the global economy will involve issues such as trade, foreign direct investment, aid, financial integration, and collaboration on health and sustainability.
Using the extensive, well-established networks, CAS will serve as a platform for engagement with East and Southeast Asia. Complex challenges require multidisciplinary expertise, and CAS seeks to build these networks with research environments at SSE, in close collaboration with industry and policy actors in Sweden and abroad.
