August 10–21, 2026: Preparatory course in Mathematics (strongly recommended but not mandatory)
SSE offers a two-week preparatory course in Mathematics before the mandatory introduction week. The course is strongly recommended but not mandatory and takes place on campus for four hours per day, Monday to Friday.
The purpose of the course is to provide students with the mathematical foundation required for the BSc programs at SSE. Many students describe the course as a valuable introduction to their studies and an excellent opportunity to get to know classmates and familiarize themselves with the campus environment.
In the BSc program in Business and Economics, the first year includes two Mathematics modules. The first module, Mathematics A, covers an obligatory learning outcome for the course BE601 Data Analytics I, which runs during the first teaching period of the first semester. The second module, Mathematics B, covers an obligatory learning outcome for BE602 Data Analytics II, which takes place during the second semester.
Students in the BSc program in Retail Management will also complete a Mathematics module as part of one of their first courses at SSE.
We also recommend refreshing your Mathematics knowledge before the start of the program. You can find practice exercises here.
Please note that all students will take a mandatory diagnostic test in basic high school Mathematics during the introduction week.
In collaboration with the Student Association at the Stockholm School of Economics (SASSE), Pearson offers a 50 percent discount on the course material used during the Summer Math course. The material is provided online and includes MyLab Math assignments, additional exercises, and the digital version of Sydsaeter, Essential Mathematics for Economic Analysis.
During the first Summer Math lecture on August 10, you will receive more information about the discount code, login instructions, and access to MyLab.
If you have any questions, please contact summermath@hhs.se.

August 24–28, 2026: Introduction week (mandatory)
To help you settle in and prepare for your studies, SSE organizes a mandatory introduction week before the start of the program.
During the week, you will be introduced to the academic structure of the program and meet fellow students, faculty, and staff. A range of lectures, seminars, and information sessions will help familiarize you with SSE and your studies. Please note that participation is mandatory for all students and includes registration to the program.
The Student Association at the Stockholm School of Economics (SASSE) also organizes a range of social activities throughout the week — a great opportunity to get to know other students and the SSE community.

Would you like to learn Swedish?
SSE's Welcome to Swedish course (strongly recommended but not compulsory)
SSE organizes a popular introductory course for students who would like to become familiar with the Swedish language and culture. Although all programs at SSE are taught entirely in English, many international students recommend learning some Swedish to help settle into life in Sweden more quickly.
The course begins with two online sessions:
- Tuesday, August 4, 2026, 16:15–18:00
- Thursday, August 6, 2026, 16:15–18:00
These sessions are open to all newly admitted international Bachelor students, regardless of previous language experience.
During the online sessions, you will meet fellow students and receive information about practical aspects of moving to Sweden and starting university studies. You will also have the opportunity to discuss expectations and concerns related to this new chapter in your life.
On-campus sessions
The course continues with four on-campus sessions:
These sessions are intended for students who do not speak Swedish. They include introductory Swedish language lessons, as well as guidance and practical information about studying and living in Sweden.
The course is strongly recommended for international students. It is also possible to attend both the Welcome to Swedish course and the preparatory course in Mathematics.
Swedish courses during your studies at SSE
Once enrolled, you will also be able to register for 10061 – Introductory Swedish Part 1a (4 ECTS credits). This course is specifically designed for first-year Bachelor students who would like to begin learning Swedish at the start of the academic year. Classes take place once a week throughout the semester, and the schedule is adapted to first-year students. Please note that places are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you are unable to register for 10061 – Introductory Swedish Part 1a, you may instead apply for 1006 – Introductory Swedish Part I (7.5 ECTS credits). Please note that this course is similar in content but is not adapted to the first-year Bachelor schedule and may overlap with mandatory courses.
Both courses are offered during the Fall semester 2026 and aim to help students build confidence in basic Swedish and develop practical language skills for everyday and professional settings.
Students may later continue with 1007 – Introductory Swedish Part II and, at a more advanced level, 1012 – Intermediate Swedish and 1013 – Professional Swedish.
