Sofie Roy to join SSE as new Senior Executive Vice President

On August 14, Sofie Roy will join the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) as Senior Executive Vice President and is expected to become a driving force in SSE’s continued development in Sweden and internationally.

In her role as Senior Executive Vice President at SSE, Sofie Roy will be responsible for leading, coordinating and developing SSE’s joint administration, which has approximately 140 employees. The role also includes overall responsibility for research administration.

“Sofie will be a great asset to SSE in our efforts to further strengthen SSE’s position in a highly competitive environment. She has excellent experience that is highly relevant to this important position, and I look forward to having Sofie on board in August,” says Lars Strannegård. 

Sofie Roy will also represent the Stockholm School of Economics in university-wide contexts, such as in meetings with ministries and with the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions, the Swedish Higher Education Authority and regional, national and international networks. The Senior Executive Vice President is also represented on various boards of directors linked to SSE’s operations.

“I’m honored to join SSE and to take on the position as Senior Executive Vice President. I’m truly looking forward to continuing the ongoing work on strengthening SSE’s position and professionalizing its operations,” says Sofie Roy.

Sofie Roy has extensive experience as a leader in both the private and public sectors. She has a PhD in Business Administration, has conducted research at the Center for Advanced Studies in Leadership at SSE and has worked at the Government Offices.

Most recently, she comes from a position as Vice President at HSB, where she headed up the property management department. Her tasks included managing 450 people that were working with for example financial management, property development, and customer services.

“I see myself as a highly committed leader with a strong drive. Above all, I enjoy leading change processes and making employees see and understand the connection between the organization’s strategic goals and their day-to-day jobs,” Sofie Roy concludes.
