Barclays joins SSE Corporate Partnership Program

Barclays is strengthening its commitment to the Nordic region through a new partnership with the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE). The collaboration will create opportunities for students to engage with global finance while bringing together academic insight and industry expertise.

The Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) welcomes Barclays as a new partner in its Corporate Partnership Program. The collaboration aims to strengthen connections between academia and the financial industry, while creating new opportunities for students to engage with one of the world's leading investment banks.

Through the partnership, Barclays and SSE will create opportunities for knowledge exchange between students, researchers, and industry professionals. The collaboration will include guest lectures, events, and discussions focused on global capital markets, corporate finance, and the evolving role of financial institutions in a rapidly changing world.

“We are proud to partner with the Stockholm School of Economics, an institution that plays a central role in shaping the next generation of leaders in the Nordic business community. For Barclays, the collaboration represents an opportunity to both contribute to and benefit from SSE’s ecosystem – bringing together access to exceptional talent, leading research and forward-looking perspectives with our global platform.” says Per-Olov Bergström, Chairman of Nordic Investment Banking at Barclays.

SSE brings together talented students, internationally recognized researchers, and strong ties to the Nordic business community. This makes the School a natural partner for companies seeking to strengthen their presence in the region.

Connecting global finance with Nordic talent

The partnership will give students access to perspectives from global financial markets while helping them understand how investment banking, corporate finance, and advisory services support companies as they grow and adapt to changing market conditions. At the same time, Barclays will gain valuable insights through engagement with students, faculty, and the broader SSE network. The collaboration is designed as a two-way exchange of ideas, combining global expertise with local knowledge and perspectives.

“We are delighted to welcome Barclays to our Corporate Partnership Program. Their global reach and expertise will provide valuable insights for our students and strengthen the connection between academic learning and the realities of international business.” says Bobby Lundqvist, Head of Corporate Relations and Development at the Stockholm School of Economics.

The investment banking industry is currently navigating a more complex environment shaped by macroeconomic uncertainty, changing regulations, and shifting investment priorities. At the same time, major opportunities are emerging in areas such as energy transition, infrastructure, and digitalization, creating demand for new skills and fresh perspectives. By bringing together Barclays' international experience and SSE's academic excellence, the partnership aims to contribute to the development of future business leaders while strengthening dialogue between academia and industry.

The SSE Corporate Partnership Program

The SSE Corporate Partnership Program was established in 1994 and consists of a network of leading Swedish and international companies from various industries. The cooperation between SSE and the business industry is a strong, mutual relationship, based on a customized collaboration built on each company’s individual needs. SSE is currently collaborating with close to 100 companies.
