Each department focuses on a defined field within economics and business, such as finance, accounting, marketing, management, or economics. Within these disciplines, researchers develop new knowledge, publish in international journals, and contribute to academic debate as well as to practice and policy.
Departments also play a key role in education. They are responsible for course content, teaching, and supervision across the School’s programs, including doctoral education. Close collaboration between research and teaching ensures that education is grounded in current knowledge and reflects developments in the field.
Together, the departments provide the disciplinary foundation of research at SSE and support collaboration with research centers, institutes, and external partners.
