SSE welcomes new students with traditional red carpet ceremony
New students are arriving at the Stockholm School of Economics this week and are being met with one of the School's most cherished traditions: a red carpet, balloons, singing, and plenty of applause from current students.
By the oak door towards Sveavägen, members of the Student Association at the Stockholm School of Economics (SASSE) gathered, dressed in their finest and ready to welcome the newest members of the SSE community.
Accompanied by the student choir Friedmans Apostlar, new students walked the red carpet and through the oak doors for the first time as SSE students.

Inside, the welcome continued in the Aula, where SSE President Lars Strannegård reflected on the symbolism of entering SSE through its large oak doors. The ambition is that by the time students walk through them again as graduates, their education will have opened many more doors. Through SSE's FREE educational mission, students are encouraged to develop the independence and curiosity to navigate those opportunities and engage with the world around them.
The first days at SSE are about much more than practical information and getting familiar with campus. Intro week allows new students to meet their classmates, discover student life, and begin finding their place in the community.
The coming years will bring new ideas, friendships, challenges, and opportunities. But before all of that begins, the first step deserves to be celebrated.
