First day panel on 16th of November Nordic Security and Competitiveness Day 2026
The Center for Security and Resilience at the Stockholm School of Economics is glad to present the first panel for Nordic Security and Competitiveness Day on November 16, 2026. The session will explore how business, local government, and research can help bring a geoeconomic perspective into Sweden’s total defense.
The opening panel, “Implementing geoeconomic perspectives in total defense,” will examine how economic capabilities and international dependencies should inform security planning. It will connect strategic questions with practical decisions about investment, procurement, supply chains, and preparedness.
The invited panelists are Andreas von der Heide, CEO and co-founder of Consilio International; Daniella Waldfogel, CEO of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce; Carina Leffler, city director of Helsingborg; and Constantin Blome, professor at SSE and a researcher in supply chains. Together, they bring perspectives from geopolitical advisory, business, municipal leadership, and academia.
At the center of the discussion is a question of implementation: how can companies and public authorities align their decisions to strengthen both competitiveness and preparedness? The panel will explore what this means for the organizations responsible for keeping businesses and essential services operating during disruption.
The discussion will also consider how Sweden’s economic strengths can contribute to security. Alongside understanding the country’s dependencies, the session will examine the capabilities that make Sweden and the wider Nordic-Baltic region important to others and how those capabilities can support resilience and deterrence.
Scheduled for 9:00 - 9:45 a.m., the panel will set the stage for a day dedicated to the relationship between economic competitiveness and security.
Nordic Security and Competitiveness Day 2026 take place at SSE on November 16 under the theme “From strategic autonomy to strategic coordination.” The day will examine how cooperation in areas such as investment, technology, supply chains, and preparedness can strengthen the Nordic-Baltic region.
The event is organized by the Center for Security and Resilience together with Hanken School of Economics, SSE Riga, and NHH Norwegian School of Economics, in collaboration with Akademiska Officerssällskapet i Stockholm and with support from the Anders Wall Foundation. The program includes daytime seminars, a career fair, and an evening event.
