Exploring Canadian Swedish relations when ambassador Sinclair visits SSE
On Wednesday, September 30th, Director and Professor Martin Carlsson Wall and Executive Director Staffan Holmberg of the Center for Security and Resilience had the honor of hosting his Excellency ambassador Robert Sinclair at the Stockholm School of Economics.
Joining the ambassador were Ms. Maria Stenberg Trade commissioner and Mr. Christian Ekström Senior Trade Officer both working at the embassy.
After a brief introduction to SSE, the meeting continued with a presentation of the Center for Security and Resilience as well as a discussion on Swedish Canadian trade relations and the new Canadian Swedish Chamber of Commerce. The conversation continued with a discussion regarding Strategic partnership between Canada and Sweden that was signed in late 2025. Within the partnership several important topics are organized into five pillars of common interest, among these both pillar one economic development, competitiveness, trade and investment and pillar two, security, defense, and resilience are highly relevant to both research, teaching and society lab activities at CfSR.
After the discussion the ambassador was shown the SSE campus environment entering multiple art classrooms as well as the SSE aula, continuing the conversation of the creation of knowledge and how the physical environment can be a tool, sparking creativity, innovation and widening horizons.
The meeting ended with a mutual wish to continue exploring how SSE and the Center could help in strengthening the relations between the two countries, already planning the next step.
