About the lecture
War imposes profound economic costs that extend beyond the immediate destruction of physical and human capital. In this lecture, Professor Gorodnichenko will discuss the allocative consequences of war and examine how conflict can disrupt the distribution of resources across firms and economic activities, with implications for productivity and longer-term economic performance.
The lecture will be chaired by Torbjörn Becker, Director of the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE) at the Stockholm School of Economics.
About the speaker
Yuriy Gorodnichenko is Professor of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley. His research spans macroeconomics, monetary economics, international economics, and issues related to the Ukrainian and global economy. He has published extensively in leading academic journals and is widely recognized for his research on macroeconomic policy and economic fluctuations.
