Meet Isak - Budget Attaché at Sweden’s Permanent Representation to the European Union in Brussels and PhD in Economics alum.

1. Describe your role and what it is that you do overall and on a day-to-day basis.

I work as Budget Attaché at Sweden’s Permanent Representation to the European Union in Brussels. As such, I represent Sweden on a technical level in matters relating to the EU:s budget in the Council of the European Union.

 

2. What is the attraction of doing research?

Doing research means being able to devote yourself to the things you find most interesting in the world. By doing so, you are challenged to grow intellectually, expand your skill set and engaging with people who share your interest.

 

3. Why did you choose to do your PhD at SSE?

SSE offers a great education in an international environment. Being university aimed primarily at economics, it offers the familiarity of a smaller school while having top tier researchers within their fields.

 

4. Following the time at SSE, do you have any words of wisdom or advice you would like to share with our current students?

Start writing early, don’t skip math and do not hesitate to ask for help.

 

5. What are three words that sum up your time at SSE?

Challenging, rewarding, fun.
