Donations from UK alumni are increasing
Thanks to the generosity of UK alumni, over £200,000 of donations have been contributed to the UKFSSE. This has enabled the UKFSSE to support a wide variety of SSE projects. One of the projects was the renovation of The Lindgren Room (Classroom 342), which was financed by donations to the UKFSSE from SSE alumni and friends Johan Thorell and Lars Bane. The classroom was named after Johan and Lars’ favorite teacher, Ragnar Lindgren, and was inaugurated in 2019 and is designed to support flexible and agile learning, equipped with the latest technology.
UK alumni have also helped finance the widening participation initiative, SSE Sisters. SSE Sisters is a mentorship program where female students at SSE act as mentors for young women who are in their second or third year of upper secondary school.
In addition, the purchasing of several artworks that have become part of the SSE Permanent Collection within the SSE Art Initiative has been made possible by charitable donations from the UKFSSE. These artworks include: Air by Sam Francis, the series Gifts and Occupations by Åsa Norberg and Jennie Sundén, and White Noise by Emmanuel Van der Auwera.
