Breakfast Seminar | Ukraine's EU accession: Lessons from previous enlargements and perspectives on the road ahead
How can previous EU enlargements inform Ukraine's path to membership? Come meet four of the members of the NB8 High-Level Advisory Group to Ukraine and the Embassy of Ukraine in Sweden for a breakfast seminar on institutional reforms, economic integration, and the challenges of EU accession during wartime.
About
Ukraine's path toward EU membership takes place under exceptional circumstances, with the country pursuing extensive reforms while facing the challenges of war and reconstruction.
Previous EU enlargements offer valuable experience of accession negotiations, institutional reforms, and economic integration. At the same time, Ukraine's circumstances raise new questions about how these experiences can inform the accession process today.
This public seminar, hosted by the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE) at the Stockholm School of Economics, will bring together Ukraine's perspective and the firsthand experience of senior Nordic-Baltic advisers involved in previous EU enlargements.
The discussion will explore lessons from past accession processes, their relevance for Ukraine, and the opportunities and challenges ahead. Particular attention will be given to the challenges of pursuing EU membership during wartime and how previous experiences can inform Ukraine's preparations for the next stages of accession.
