About the event
What can Nobel Prize-winning research teach us about how economies and societies withstand crises?
As part of Nobel Calling Stockholm 2026, the Stockholm School of Economics, Sveriges Riksbank, and Stockholm University bring together researchers and experts to discuss how insights from research on financial crises, trust, and human behavior can help address challenges facing today's increasingly digital payment systems.
Financial crises, bank runs, and the COVID-19 pandemic have demonstrated how important trust, well-functioning institutions, and human behavior are to an economy's ability to withstand disruption. At the same time, the growing digitalization of payments raises new questions about financial stability and how societies prepare for crises and war.
The conversation will explore how insights from previous Nobel Prize-winning research can contribute to developing more resilient digital payment systems, strengthening financial stability, and improving society's preparedness for future disruptions.
