Erik Wetter Visiting Professor at new Asian artificial intelligence (AI) lab

Misum´s Erik Wetter has been appointed Visiting Professor at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) in Manila.

AIM is a private international business school that was established in 1968 in partnership with Harvard Business School, and was the first ASEAN academic institution to receive AACSB accreditation. The school has a strong profile in both business and development, and is designated by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as a Center of Excellence and partner in knowledge creation and management.

At AIM he will work with the recently launched Analytics, Computing, and Complex Systems Lab (ACCeSs@AIM) focusing on data science strategy and data for development.

Powered by Southeast Asia´s 2nd most powerful supercomputer and advanced AI technology donated by Taiwanese IT company Acer, the lab is designed to drive digital transformation by doing applied research in data science, in contrast to only doing academic research about data science.

“Southeast Asia is the fastest growing region in the world and ACCeSs@AIM is a groundbreaking initiative in that it is a supercomputer lab equipped with state of the art technology, staffed by close to 20 hardcore data scientists and a leadership team recruited from the Singapore Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC), but housed in a business school and working on real data and business issues in close collaboration with industry and government partners.” says Erik Wetter.
