Lilian Thuram visits SSE - A conversation on meritocracy, racism and equal opportunity
What does equal opportunity mean, and how does racism shape our understanding of merit? SSE welcomes World Cup-winning footballer, author and philanthropist Lilian Thuram for a conversation on meritocracy, racism and equal opportunity.
Lilian Thuram is a World Cup-winning former footballer, author and founder of the Lilian Thuram Foundation – Education Against Racism. Through his writing and the work of his foundation, he explores how racism is learned, perpetuated and challenged.
During his visit to SSE, Thuram will discuss meritocracy, racism and equal opportunity, inviting reflection on how prejudice shapes society and how education can help challenge it.
The event is jointly organized by SSE’s Literary Agenda, Center for Integration and Migration, and Sport Initiative.
