Understanding Russia’s war against Ukraine requires looking beyond the latest developments. During this Preparedness Week seminar, Elina Jonsson, Senior Advisor at the Center for Security and Resilience (CfSR), will explore the historical and political forces that have shaped modern Russia and its system of power.
By looking beyond current events, Jonsson will trace patterns that have repeatedly shaped Russia’s actions and consider their implications for Sweden and Europe.

Senior Advisor, Center for Security and Resilience, Stockholm School of Economics
Jonsson is an international lawyer and former diplomat with extensive experience in security policy, total defense, and public-private cooperation. She has worked at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the EU, and the UN, with a focus on Russia and China. She speaks both Russian and Chinese.
The seminar is organized by the Center for Security and Resilience (CfSR) as part of Sweden’s Preparedness Week.
