Join us for the next Firestorm Talk this autumn with one of the most influential women on the Swedish art scene today: Joanna Sandell Wright, Director of Liljevalchs.
In 2022, Sandell Wright was appointed Director of Liljevalchs, Stockholm’s oldest art gallery, having previously served as Director of Kalmar Art Museum.
This year, Liljevalchs celebrates its 110th anniversary. As the institution continues to evolve, not least through the addition of Liljevalchs+, a 2,400-square-metre extension, Sandell Wright leads a forward-thinking and dynamic exhibition programme spanning both the historic original building and the new extension.
In this conversation, Michael Storåkers sits down with Sandell Wright to discuss her path into the art world, her vision and programme for Liljevalchs, and her perspective on driving change through art.
This autumn, Firestorm Talks expands its programme under the theme Driving Change. We turn our attention to the women leading Sweden’s foremost art institutions, exploring how they shape the art world and, in turn, what shapes their approach to leadership. The autumn programme opened with Tone Hansen, Director of Moderna Museet, and now continues with Joanna Sandell Wright, Director of Liljevalchs, before concluding the year with Sara Arrhenius, Director of the Swedish Institute in Paris.
The talk will take place on 16 November at 12:15 pm at the Stockholm School of Economics, in the auditorium on the ground floor.
Lunch will be served. Please note that the talk will be held in Swedish.
