Program structure

On this page, you can see the detailed program structure and all courses in the BSc program in Business and Economics. The program is a 3-year Bachelor/undergraduate program (180 ECTS) taught fully in English.

Before the start of the program

We offer a preparatory Mathematics course as well as "Welcome to Swedish", a popular introductory course for international students who wish to familiarize themselves with the Swedish language and culture (even though all programs at SSE are taught in English).

General structure

Semesters 1-3: We choose

In the first half of the program, you build a solid foundation through a broad set of mandatory courses. You get to explore areas such as accounting, business law, data analytics, economics, finance, global challenges (sustainability, climate crises, global conflicts), innovation and entrepreneurship, management, marketing, and strategy. You also connect what you learn in the different courses through the personal development course BE Reflection Series.

Semesters 4-6: You choose

In the second half of the program, you have the freedom to choose your own unique path through specializations and electives as well as exchange opportunities at top partner universities abroad. If you want to, you can also do a 16-week internship course instead of an exchange semester.

Study pace and workload

The program is designed as a full-time course of study, where teaching and learning rely heavily on active participation, collaboration, and consistent attendance. It is difficult to combine the program with other demanding daytime commitments, such as additional studies or employment. To get the most out of the programboth academically and sociallyyou should approach your studies as a full-time responsibility, roughly equivalent to a typical workday (9:00–17:00), allowing time for classes, preparation, and group work.

SSE helped me develop and accelerate my strengths, which I believe is important to find as you set out in your career. Focus on finding what you feel passionate about and what motivates you. It’s really not easy and may take some time, so don’t get stressed if you haven't figured it out yet. Start somewhere, try things - sometimes you will find the right way fast, and sometimes you’ll hit rock bottom, and that is also ok.
