Who is the student choosing Retail Management?
"You are more interested in the business side of the business and economics field, because the Retail Management program has more courses in marketing, management and accounting than in economics and finance. You are also interested in sustainability, digitalization and the changes.
You are also interested in engaging with business people because we provide a lot of opportunities for that throughout the program."
/Fredrik Lange, Program Director
Program structure
Carefully customized courses
The program largely consists of mandatory courses with a strong retail focus. They have been carefully customized to provide you with both retail-specific content and content students normally receive at business schools (such as economics, marketing, accounting, management and strategy). The program is closely linked to the world-class industry research at Center for Retailing. One of those world-class researchers is Professor Sara Rosengren, interviewed here for SSE's podcast Sound Economy:
Applied Retail Track
The Applied Retail Track that runs through all 6 semesters gives you a unique opportunity to work closely with well-known retail companies. It gives you unmatched networking opportunities for your future career. Theory and practice are combined and you work hands-on with real-life projects and challenges such as sustainability.
There are 10 retail clubs and each retail club consists of 15–20 students, company representatives, and a faculty member from SSE. The Applied Retail Track includes workshops, company visits, theme lectures as well as career planning. Get updates from all these activities on this page.

The Antonia Ax:son Johnson Tutorial Program
The tutorial program runs through all 6 semesters and focuses on offering a more personalized learning experience for students. It is inspired by similar ideas at Oxford and Cambridge. Through tutor sessions with faculty members and skills workshops, you develop your academic knowledge as well as your self-leadership and peer leadership skills.
Bachelor thesis & company project
In semesters 5 or 6, you write your Bachelor's thesis and also have a big company project. Furthermore, there is a limited number of spots available if you want to go for an exchange semester at one of our partner universities.
