BACHELOR OF SCIENCE PROGRAM IN BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS, RETAIL MANAGEMENT
The BSc, Business and Economics, Retail Management program (180 ECTS credits) is a specialized education focused on retail and marketing.
The three-year program – developed in close cooperation with industry and largely financed by the Swedish retail industry – will enable you to quickly reach advanced positions within retailing. The aim is to create a knowledge center focused on retailing, a Swedish sector that has experienced great international success for several years and that drives a considerable part of the Nordic economy.
The program’s courses include business administration and economics, jurisprudence, statistics and finance. As a student, you will also develop in-depth knowledge about various retail-related areas.
Through partnerships with top-ranked, internationally-recognized universities around the world, we can offer a couple of study places abroad to students in the third year of our bachelor’s programs. Read more here.
Retail Clubs, which are unique to the universities of Sweden, are part of the program. The clubs function as collaborative projects between students and businesses whereby students participate in research projects, study visits, focus groups, and sometimes even new product launches, all to learn how the industry works. The clubs therefore facilitate deep and continuous collaboration between students of the program and companies in the industry, and between businesses and the Center for Retailing. They also constitute a powerful recruiting platform. Learn more about the Center for Retailing here.
The program provides an excellent foundation in business and economics, and prepares you for a successful career in retail. We are proud that more than 80 percent of the students who do not choose further study after graduation get a job within three months.
Retail knowledge is not only in demand in the traditional retail sector. After your education, your skills will also be applicable to working in the manufacturing or service sector, or working as a brand, product or expansion manager, for example. You will also be qualified to work in any business that increasingly invests in stores, such as banks, insurance companies, automotive companies, mobile operators, consultancies and advertising agencies. The choices are many.
You could even apply for one of our master’s programs. We cannot guarantee a spot, but some places are reserved for bachelor’s students from SSE. Applications are made during the spring semester.
