The program largely consists of mandatory courses with a strong retail focus. They have been carefully customized to provide you with both retail-specific content and content students normally receive at business schools (such as economics, marketing, accounting, management and strategy). The program is closely linked to the world-class industry research at Center for Retailing.
The Applied Retail Track that runs trough all 6 semesters gives you a unique opportunity to work closely with well-known retail companies. It gives you unmatched networking opportunities for a future career in retail. Theory and practice are combined and you work hands-on with real-life projects and challenges such as sustainability. Eleven retail clubs comprise the track. Each retail club consists of 15–20 students from all years in the program, company representatives, and a faculty member from SSE. The Applied Retail Track includes workshops, company visits, theme lectures as well as career planning.
The Antonia Ax:son Johnson Tutorial Program also runs through all six semesters and focuses on offering a more personalized learning experience for students. It is inspired by similar ideas at Oxford and Cambridge. Through tutor sessions with faculty members and skills workshops, you develop your academic knowledge as well as your self-leadership and peer leadership skills.
In semesters 5 or 6, you write your Bachelor thesis and also have a big company project. Furthermore, you have the opportunity to go on an exchange semester at one of more than 80 prestigious partner universities around the world.

Excellent career opportunities
The BSc program in Retail Management opens the doors to a wide range of careers and advanced studies. SSE is highly ranked and our students are very attractive on the job market both in Sweden and internationally. If you want to work in Sweden, Stockholm offers a truly exciting job market with many global companies. Did you know that Stockholm is known both as "The Silicon Valley of Europe" and "The Unicorn Factory" due to the big number of successful startups here?
Many students receive job offers before graduating, for example from our more than 100 partner companies. In 2021, 94 % of the BSc students responding to our employment survey had a job within 3 months of graduation. Out of those, 81 % were offered a job before graduating. Others choose to continue their studies on the Master's level.
During your time at SSE, you are offered career coaching, CV/resume training and job interview training. You also have access to the SSE Career Hub with many positions and internships available exclusively to SSE students. Read more here.

Student life & campus environment
SSE's beautiful campus is located in the very heart of Stockholm. We have about 2,000 students enrolled at all levels which makes us a small, familiar and personal school. Making friends for life is easy here! Our students also have a strong culture of "Sharing is Caring" which means that they always try to support each other rather than compete.
The program is fully taught in English and you study with international students from many different countries as well as Swedish students. It's a highly selective program that offers outstanding students a close and creative learning environment.
The student life at SSE is really good and a big reason for that is the very active student organisation SASSE. They organize the unforgettable introduction week and a big number of social activities and parties. They also organize many professional events such as guest lectures and career fairs to set you up with future employers.
There are endless opportunities to engage in your passion. Here are some examples:
- Art Division
- Literary Agenda
