Petter Menning
Canoeing
Petter Menning is a sprint canoeist who excels in short distances. His breakthrough came relatively late in his teenage years, in part because of the introduction of his strongest distance, K1 200 meters. Since then, he has won one world championship gold medal and five medals in total, the second most of any Swede in canoeing. He has also won five European Championship medals, including one gold, and competed in two Olympic Games. Menning has a master’s degree in business and economics from Stockholm University, and since retiring from canoeing in 2024 because of a heart issue, he has worked as a business consultant, inspirational lecturer, and investor and ambassador for a company that matches athletes with trainers. When Menning was growing up, sport was his refuge from an unstable home, which is central to his lectures and has led to his involvement with the Swedish organization Maskrosbarn, which supports children growing up in unsafe homes.
