Lea Ypi´s memoir Free. Coming of Age at the End of History (2021) is about growing up in Albania in the 90s, a place marked by the collapse of communism and the economic and political unrest that followed. The book has had a great reception, has been nominated for several awards and is the winner of the Ondaatje Prize in 2022.

Ypi has written a number of books, and calls Free a philosophical memoir. She was born in 1979 in Albania and she is a Professor in Political Theory in London School of Economics Department of Government.

The conversation will be lead by SSE researcher (and book circle leader) Svenne Junker and SSE student Flora Öhd.

Sign up to the conversation here.

You don´t have to be a member of the Literary Agenda to join.

Welcome!
