Alum of the Year Award 2019
For the second year in a row, the Stockholm School of Economics has named an Alum of the Year. In 2019, the award was presented to Jan Ståhlberg, who graduated from the School in 1985 and was part of the initial team at EQT Partners.
“I am very pleased to have been nominated for the Alum of the Year 2019 award — and to have won! My education from the Stockholm School of Economics has allowed me to work with things I am passionate about, and I have been able to realize business concepts contributing to a better world.”
Jan Ståhlberg earned his Master of Business Administration degree in 1985. He was part of the initial team at EQT Partners and has previously been employed by Ovako Steel Group, where he worked at companies including Gambro AB, SSP and Verty. He holds and has held numerous board assignments, including at Trelleborg AB and Finn-Power Oy. After leaving EQT, Jan Ståhlberg started a new venture capital fund that will invest in unlisted companies with clear sustainability objectives.
“Jan Ståhlberg is a brilliant example of how the Stockholm School of Economics can change lives and be a springboard to realizing one’s dreams. Following an exceptional career in industry, he has, with the perspective he gained there, helped transform the financial sector. Jan is also an active alum, serving often as a guest lecturer at the School, and we are very proud to have him among us,” says Lars Strannegård, president of the Stockholm School of Economics.
The award ceremony took place at the annual Alumni Homecoming on April 5. This was the second consecutive year in which the School presented the award. In 2018, Helena Saxon was named Alum of the Year.
The Alum of the Year distinction is awarded to a person who has a degree from the Stockholm School of Economics and has achieved professional success, contributed to society, and supported the School.
