SSE researcher Erik Wetter to European Commission Expert Group

Erik Wetter at SSE House of Innovation and Misum has been appointed to the European Commission Expert Group on Business-to-Government (B2G) Data Sharing.

As part of its Digital Single Market strategy the European Commission has taken major initiatives on the free flow of non-personal data and on accessibility and re-use of public and publicly funded data. It has also indicated further measures in the area of private sector data that are of public interest.

The Expert Group will give recommendations and advice on actions to promote B2G data sharing for public interest purposes and provide recommendations to the European Commission on how to further develop its B2G data-sharing policy. In particular, the Expert Group will advise the European Commission on new areas for potential support for B2G data sharing through targeted policy actions enhancing B2G data sharing and via the EU’s Research and Innovation Framework Programme or other funding programmes.

Other members and observers of the Expert Group include people from HEC Paris, New York University, World Bank, UN, OECD, Mastercard, Vodafone, Deutsche Telekom, Telefonica, as well as government agencies from Finland, France, Germany, Poland, and Sweden.
