Knowledge integration

– a merger between consultancy firms

This Ph.D. project examines how IT and management consulting knowledge is integrated in a merger process. Using theories on situated learning, and especially communities of practice, the thesis shows that knowledge integration is intimately connected to problems with legitimacy. Therefore, the integration process needs distance as well as integration.
