Governing towards a low-carbon economy

The research project aim to analyze the roadmaps in a market practice perspective, the role of the roadmaps in government climate policy practice and how market actor innovations are affected by policy practice.

Climate change mitigation is dependent on transformative and interdependent technical, economic and policy innovations. How do Market governance and State governance interact in efforts to drastically reduce GHG emissions from production and consumption? Taking a market practice perspective we use information about on-going innovation processes: from the roadmaps constructed by market actors within the Fossil Free Sweden government committee, from the Swedish governments stated climate actions and action plans as well as from on-going policy in Swedish media. The focus is on how market exchanges, linking production and consumption may become increasingly fossil-free, positively affected by policy innovations. A case studied is policy efforts to develop public procurement as a climate political tool.
