SSE Riga

SSE Riga (Stockholm School of Economics in Riga) is an independent higher education institution in Riga, Latvia, established in 1994 as a joint initiative of the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) and the Swedish and Latvian Governments.

Its mission was to contribute to the democratic and economic development of the Baltic countries.

SSE Riga operates as a separate legal entity and is wholly owned by the SSE Riga Foundation, established in 2010. The Foundation’s founders are the Stockholm School of Economics, the University of Latvia on behalf of the Latvian Government, and the SSE Riga Alumni Association. Its governance structure includes a Management Board representing key stakeholders and a Supervisory Board composed of the President of SSE and the Rector of the University of Latvia.

SSE Riga has its own Board of Directors and executive leadership and operates under a brand agreement with SSE, reflecting the close academic relationship between the institutions.
