28 MSEK to new research program on digital innovation

The Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation has awarded 28 MSEK to a new research program focused on digital innovation, combining scientific excellence with societal impact. The program will be conducted at the Swedish Center for Digital Innovation (SCDI), with nodes at the Stockholm School of Economics House of Innovation, Umeå University and the University of Gothenburg. SCDI partners with RISE Digital Innovation for the project.

“We are very grateful and extremely pleased to have this opportunity to expand our research in digital innovation, as part of SCDI. Living in a digital age, we need to harness the opportunities of digital technologies, but also rediscover what it means to be human in a world of algorithms”, says Lars Strannegård, President of the Stockholm School of Economics.

The new research program – called the Wallenberg Digital Innovation Program – builds on research conducted in close collaboration with industry and the public sector. Key aspects of the program include nine two-year postdoctoral positions, along with research conferences and symposiums with industry and the public sector.

“We are excited about this opportunity to further develop our research on topics such as AI in the workplace, emergence of innovation ecosystems, and digital innovation in healthcare. This grant will enable us to think broadly, collaborate across universities and sectors, and continue to build and exchange knowledge in these areas, says Professor Magnus Mähring, Chair of the SSE House of Innovation and node director at SCDI.
