Jaakko Meriläinen granted tenure and promoted to Associate Professor at the Stockholm School of Economics

Jaakko Meriläinen, a political economist specializing in democratic governance and development, has been granted tenure and promoted to Associate Professor at the Stockholm School of Economics. The promotion reflects his valuable contributions to research, teaching, and academic service.

Since joining the Department of Economics, at the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE), Jaakko Meriläinen has contributed to the department's research and teaching at the intersection of political and economic development. His work examines issues related to political representation, electoral politics, and historical political economy, combining empirical methods with data from both contemporary and historical contexts. In 2024, Meriläinen was awarded the SSE Corporate Partners' Research Award for his innovative work in political economics.
