2009 - Introduction of SSE's Master programs
The following programs were introduced:

  • MSc program in Business and Economics,
    specialization in Marketing and Media Management
    (last intake 2011)

  • MSc program in Business and Economics,
    specialization in Economics
    (last intake 2011)

  • MSc program in Business and Economics,
    specialization in Accounting & Financial Management
    (last intake 2011)

  • MSc program in Business and Economics,
    specialization in Finance
    (last intake 2011)

  • MSc program in Business and Economics,
    specialization in Management
    (last intake 2011)

  • MSc program in General Management
    (last intake 2014)


2010 - New double degree agreement with Bocconi University - linked to the MSc students who specialized in Finance / enrolled in the MSc program in Finance from 2012
The first MSc double degree students were sent to Bocconi University in 2011 (ongoing).


2012 - New structure of the MSc programs 
The following programs were offered:

  • MSc program in Business and Management,
    specialization in Management
    (last intake: 2015)

  • MSc program in Business and Management,
    specialization in Marketing & Media Management
    (last intake: 2015)

  • MSc program in Economics,
    specializations in Applied Economic Analysis and International Economics
    (program ongoing; specializations were removed in spring 2023)

  • MSc program in Accounting & Financial Management
    (last intake: 2017)

  • MSc program in Finance,
    specializations in Corporate Finance and Investment Management
    (ongoing)


2012 - New double degree agreement with the University of St Gallen - linked to our MSc program in Economics
The first MSc double degree students were sent to the University of St Gallen in 2013 (ongoing).


2013 - Launch of the MSc program in International Business
(ongoing)


2014 - New double degree agreement with Sciences Po - Paris School of International Affairs
The first cohort was welcomed in 2015 (ongoing).


2015 - Launch of the scholarship program "Wallenberg International Fellows Program (WIFP)"
WIFP is a highly selective scholarship program with the mission to prepare exceptionally qualified Master students with comprehensive interdisciplinary knowledge, applied experience and valuable international networking opportunities to follow the path of becoming responsible global leaders within the public or private business sector. All MSc students (except for double degree students) are eligible to apply. The program starts after the first year of the MSc program with a summer internship in Washington D.C. followed by an exchange semester at the Landegger Program in International Business Diplomacy at Georgetown University. The first cohort was sent to Washington D.C. in 2015 (ongoing).


2016 - Introduction of a new grading scale 
While a new grading scale was introduced, the actual program structure of the MSc programs in Economics, Accounting & Financial Management, Finance and International Business remained the same. 


2016 - New program structure for the MSc program in Business & Management 
The program was restructured and updated. The former specializations were also taken away from the program.


2017 - Launch of the "K-A Bonnier International Fellows Program" (KAB) / double degree program with the National University of Singapore
The K-A Bonnier International Fellows Program (KAB) aimed to promote business activity between the Nordics and Southeast Asia and helped exceptionally talented students acquire the knowledge and tools needed to succeed in a diverse entrepreneurial context. This opportunity was specifically geared towards students with a passion for entrepreneurship and SME growth in Southeast Asia and the Nordic countries. All Nordic students studied one year at SSE and one year at the National University of Singapore and obtained two Master degrees. The first cohort was welcomed in 2017. The program has been offered to four cohorts and was discontinued in 2020.


2017 - New double degree agreement with Sciences Po - School of Management and Innovation
The first cohort was welcomed in 2018 (ongoing).


2018 - New name for the MSc program in Accounting & Financial Management
The program name of the MSc program in Accounting & Financial Management was updated. The new and current name of the program is "MSc program in Accounting, Valuation & Financial Management". Students admitted to the MSc program in 2017 received the new degree name on their degree certificate.


2019 - Introduction of the Data Analytics track on the MSc level
The Data Analytics Track was launched in 2019 and is a combination of existing courses at SSE. The track is open to all MSc students. Upon successful completion of the coursework, a note regarding the completion of the Data Analytics Track will be included on the degree certificate. Students interested in this track are required to take a preparatory course in the programming language R and need to pass at least three courses in data analytics. 


2020 - New double degree agreement with the University of St Gallen - linked to our MSc program in Finance
The first cohort was welcomed in 2021 (ongoing).


2023 - Introduction of the Sustainability track on the MSc level
In spring 2023, the Sustainability Track was launched. The Sustainability Track is a combination of existing courses at SSE and is open to all MSc students. Upon successful completion of the coursework, a note regarding the completion of the Sustainability Track will be included on the degree certificate. Students interested in this track are required to study two courses in sustainability and need to write the MSc thesis on the topic of sustainability.


2023 - Removal of the specializations in the MSc program in Economics
Starting from the student intake of 2024, it should be noted that the specializations currently offered within the MSc program in Economics will no longer be available. Elective courses will be open for students to choose according to their preferences without any restrictions.
