Courses

EIJS offers courses in the Master of Science program at the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) such as more specialized courses focusing on the Japanese economy, China, Korea and South East Asia are also provided.

Courses are open to SSE students and to those on official student exchange from other universities.

Our faculty includes mainly EIJS staff, but also visiting academics, businessmen, and government officials from Europe, Asia, and North America.

Growing exchange

The Institute has also been active in expanding the SSE exchange programmes with leading East Asian institutions. In addition to student exchange programmes with Keio University’s Graduate School of Business and Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo, exchange agreements have been established with Yonsei University in Seoul, the Asian Institute of Management in Manila, and the National University of Singapore. These programmes create mutually beneficial international networks between Europe and Asia, and contribute to the strengthening of academic and business links between the regions.

EIJS has also given advice and supported several exchange projects arranged by the East Asia Association at the SSE. Please visit the East Asia Association for more information about this student network.

Students from other Swedish universities and institutes

Since the 1992 inauguration of the European Institute of Japanese Studies, we at EIJS have successfully offered places in our courses not only to those from SSE and exchange students, but also to students from Stockholm University, the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and Uppsala University. This has been quite successful.

Due to evolving regulations at the university level, however, we are currently unable to offer places to students from other universities in the region. This is regrettable as most of our courses are not offered elsewhere in the Stockholm region. For the time being we can only urge interested students to contact your university president and ask that they conclude some form of agreement with the Stockholm School of Economics. We hope that in future, we once again can offer our courses to all interested university students in the region.
