House structure

House of Innovation serves an umbrella covering several distinct research and educational units.

Research at its Core

At the heart of the House of Innovation is a newly created research department at the Stockholm School of Economics called the Department of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Technology (DEIT). Prior to DEIT, the last department at the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) was established more than 30 years ago. Today, SSE has six departments. Aside from DEIT, the research core of the House of Innovation consists of five centers: The Scania Research Center, The Garden, The Jacob and Marcus Wallenberg Center, the MISUM Sustainable Business Development Platform and the Center for Data Analytics.

Research Collaborations

The House of Innovation maintains a number of active research collaborations. In fact, almost all researchers in the House have different external collaborations. Although, some are more formalized than others.

Education, Impact and Visibility

At the House of Innovation, research matters. Our researchers investigate relevant and important phenomena, and we work hard to disseminate the knowledge that they create as widely as possible.

We are active on all levels of education from undergrad to PhD and Executive Education. Further, we are in charge of the Master program of Business & Management. We also work together with the Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship to provide interdisciplinary entrepreneurship courses to students from SSE, Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), University of Arts, Crafts and Design (Konstfack), Stockholm University, Karolinska Institute and the Royal school of Music.

Additionally, we have a dedicated Outreach Team that works with outreach activities such as conferences, seminars, and workshops.

Funding for the House of Innovation

The establishment of the House of Innovation was enabled by generous donations by the Erling Persson Family Foundation. The Wallenberg foundations, together with a consortium of other companies, also invested in the Jacob and Marcus Wallenberg Center for Innovative and Sustainable Business Development. Lastly, a sizeable investment from Scania enabled the founding of the Scania Center for Innovation and Operational Excellence. We are grateful and proud for all of this support and look forward to continual opportunities for innovative excellence in the future.
