Christina Bengtsson Interview

Why is it important with education?

I already have several educations, such as a military officer training, 3 years of university studies and a Europe education. Education is not only about gaining more knowledge, but also self-development, extending one’s network of contacts and developing new ways of thinking.
.

Why did you choose to participate in the MBA program?

Even though I have one championship in the summer remaining, I have no ambitions to pursue the Olympics nor World championships. Instead, I am in a position of which I need to decide what I should do looking forward and who I am, now when sports are no longer in focus. I believe that this program is a perfect complement to my background, and thus creating a good platform for the future.
.

What is your impression of the early phases of the course?

It is inspiring to have access to the course’s knowledgeable teachers. Even though we are at a fairly novice level in regards to e.g., economics we get to learn from the best teachers and professors. It makes a difference and is very fun. I am also a bit surprised by how much the participants have in common and the similarities in experiences which in turn creates a sense of security.
.

Are there any differences to what you had expected?

Economics as a subject is new for me despite having studied previously. I am somewhat surprised that it is not harder to divulge in the subjects and how the strategical thinking developed in the military can be applied in industry.
.

What is your recommendation to a person deciding whether or not to pursue an education?

I perceive the MBA program to be beneficial for a wide range of people. You do not need to be a professional athlete, but as long as you are commited and interested it will go well. Commitment is also key in how to apply the learnings after the program.
