Meet Haohang Wu – PhD in Finance student at the Stockholm School of Economics and MSc in Finance alum.

Describe your role and what it is that you do overall and on a day-to-day basis.

I am a PhD student in the Department of Finance at SSE. My daily routine is multifaceted, primarily consisting of attending specialized courses, assisting faculty in research, serving as a teaching assistant, and most importantly, conducting my own research.

 

What interested you about the field / company / role you are currently in?

Being a PhD student at SSE allows me to stay attuned to the forefront of research innovations in finance, fostering aspirations to impart novel insights to the domain through my own work. The joy derived from advancing the boundaries of human understanding is simply beyond words.

 

Why did you choose to study your subject area at SSE?

The Department of Finance at SSE hosts internationally distinguished researchers and enables financial research and development of the highest quality. It is a natural step to pursue a PhD here.

 

How did your time / education at SSE help guide you to the career journey you have embarked on?

The intensive curriculum, pragmatic methodology, and access to a variety of viewpoints at SSE have enhanced my comprehension and refined my capabilities, acting as cornerstones for my forthcoming research in finance. As a current PhD student, I continue to reap the benefits of these experiences daily.

 

Following the time at SSE, do you have any words of wisdom or advice you would like to share with our current students?

SSE provides an extensive array of workshops, seminars, and conferences catered to both academics and practitioners. It would be regrettable not to fully leverage these invaluable resources.
