As a CIVICA Ambassador, Simon Warne looks forward to connecting with students across the alliance and engaging in the exchange of experiences, culture, and ideas. Read the interview below to learn how a lunch lecture sparked his interest in CIVICA, and how he hopes to share its opportunities and explore his passion for socially beneficial entrepreneurship.
What motivated you to apply for the CIVICA ambassador role?
The exciting opportunity of connecting with other students at the member universities.
CIVICA brings together students from across Europe — what excites you about meeting your peers from other universities?
Partaking in the exchange of experiences, culture, and ideas between CIVICA students.
Was there a particular experience — at SSE, abroad, or elsewhere — that sparked your interest in cross-European collaboration?
I learned about the Engage Track at a lunch lecture just shortly after becoming an SSE student, which sparked my interest in CIVICA and led me to apply for ambassador.
What do you hope to achieve as a CIVICA ambassador?
I hope to broaden my perspectives and spread the word to my peers about the opportunities presented by CIVICA.
Is there a specific theme or project you’re excited to explore with other ambassadors?
I'm enthusiastic about entrepreneurship, particularly how it can be used in ways that benefit society at large, so that would be an interesting theme to explore.
