Kickstart your research career at SITE
SITE is now seeking to hire a Research Assistant / Pre-Doctoral Fellow to support ongoing research and policy projects at the institute. The position is preferably full-time, though part-time arrangements while finishing a master’s degree or equivalent will be considered. We are particularly interested in candidates who intend to strengthen their technical and research skills in preparation for applying to a PhD program in economics.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work closely with SITE faculty and contribute to both academic research and policy-oriented work. Responsibilities include:
- Supporting faculty research projects through data collection, cleaning, analysis, and visualization
- Coding and empirical analysis using standard quantitative tools
- Assisting with literature reviews and summarizing research fields
- Contributing to the preparation of policy reports and briefs, including data analysis and drafting written material
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with strong technical skills and a clear interest in academic research. Required qualifications include:
- A solid background in economics; a completed bachelor’s degree with a concentration in economics is required, and a finished or ongoing master’s degree is strongly preferred
- Experience working with data and quantitative analysis, including proficiency in one or more of the following: Stata, R, Python, SQL, Julia, LaTeX
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Swedish language skills are an advantage but not required; knowledge of Ukrainian, Russian, or other Slavic languages is a plus
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a research environment
- The position requires that you are based in Sweden for the entire duration of the employment and that you are legally allowed to work in Sweden
- Prior experience of working as a research assistant is a plus
