Lunch seminar with China expert Ola Wong
Based on Wong’s expert knowledge of Chinese current affairs and the country’s troubled history, we look forward to an enlightening discussion about how the Chinese Communist Party, and especially its leader Xi Jinping, is evoking the past to control the future. What role does history play for the Chinese political leadership? How concerned should we be about the government's attempts to rewrite the country’s past? These and many other questions will be addressed during the lunch seminar hosted by the Center for Statecraft and Strategic Communication.
Ola Wong is Swedish author, journalist, and China expert. He is an editor at the current affairs magazine Kvartal. Wong has lived in Shanghai and Beijing for more than ten years as a China correspondent for Svenska Dagbladet and Sydsvenskan. He has received several awards for journalism, among them Sweden‘s most prestigious prize for investigative journalism, The Golden Shovel, in 2011. Wong is the author of several critically acclaimed nonfiction books about China, most recently Pekingsyndromet: Kina, makten, pengarna [The Peking Syndrome: China, the Power, and the Money].
