Vision Zero Cancer

This research project was instantiated with the vision to transform cancer from a deadly to a curable or chronic disease. To strive for the vision requires innovative solutions and working methods in several parts of society.

To meet these goals, the House of Innovation has established a long-term and equal innovation environment, which engages partners from all sectors and disciplines to together create the conditions required to achieve the vision. This innovation environment is called Vision Zero Cancer. It serves as a catalyst for bringing the patient, healthcare, academia, industry and politics closer together. Its intention is to sharpen collaboration, and avoid creating parallel systems.

This project is founded on the belief that research and innovation must be integrated more quickly into healthcare and benefit patients. For the first two years, the project will focus primarily on lung cancer. It is the most common cause of cancer-related death in the world. In Sweden, almost 4,000 people become ill with lung cancer every year. Almost as many die. By improving lung cancer care, we can save many lives - and to improve lung cancer care, we need to work together.
