The Stockholm School of Economics would like to congratulate the winners of the The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel 2021. The price goes to David Card, Joshua D. Angrist and Guido W. Imbens.

David Card, University of California, Berkeley, USA gets one half of the Prize "for his empirical contributions to labour economics", while the other half will be shared between Joshua D. Angrist at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA and Guido W. Imbens at Stanford University, USA "for their methodological contribution to the analysis of casual releationships".

This year’s Laureates have provided new insights about the labour market and shown what conclusions about cause and effect can be drawn from natural experiments. Their approach has spread to other fields and revolutionised empirical research.
